Beckhoff will present its PC-based control technology at Achema in Frankfurt am Main, Germany, from 11 to 15 May 2009. The universal automation concept is in use worldwide in machine, building and process automation. Alongside system solutions for packaging technology (e.g. blister packs) or for the field of measurement and control, detailed solutions for the control of pumps and valves will also be on show at the Beckhoff booth.

EtherCAT can also play its technological strengths in process automation: flexible topology possibilities, the integration of subordinated bus systems and optional redundant wiring for high system availability. In addition, EtherCAT ‘Hot Connect’ enables data acquisition modules to be coupled and uncoupled during operation.

The EtherCAT I/O system allows the integration of highprecision measuring terminals in the standard I/O system in addition to the connection of all common sensors and actuators. Power over EtherCAT is also supported, i.e. the connection of sensors with the bus signal and power supply can be accomplished via a standard Ethernet cable.
