The new BK9103 Bus Coupler allows PROFINET users to use the versatile Beckhoff I/O system with more than 200 different signal types.
In addition to a wide range of PROFIBUS products, Beckhoff now also supports PROFINET, an Industrial Ethernet fieldbus. The BK9103 Bus Coupler integrates the modular Bus Terminal system as a slave in the PROFINET network. The BK9103 features an integrated 2-port Ethernet Switch, which enables flexible topology configuration. For example, the I/O nodes can be configured with a line topology, instead of the traditional star topology. This reduces the wiring effort in many applications, leading to a significant reduction in installation costs.
The BK9103 Bus Coupler supports PROFINET RT. It is addressed via a DIP switch meaning that the BK9103 does not require a memory card for storing the address name, and no additional configuration software is required.
The BK9103 also offers comprehensive diagnostics functions without additional tools: A total of 12 LEDs provide status information such as simple voltage display, Ethernet port status, and various other parameters such as connection status and PROFINET communication status.
